The NHFPC and the Swedish Ministry of Health hold a one-day seminar on non-communicable diseases care with the two focus areas health insurance of respiratory diseases and experience exchange of respiratory disease prevention and control.

The European Chamber gave a presentation on how Health Insurance in Germany covers Chronic Diseases, with an example of an integrated approach to care of asthma patients, involving family doctors, specialists and family members. This approach is not restricted to payment of medication but also includes regular monitoring of the disease, providing training and encourages change of behaviour of the patient.

The participants agreed that the Chinese State Health Insurance is too fragmented, general service to patients needs to be improved. On the long term, the Chinese Health Insurance should not just pay bills for treatment, but focus more on prevention of diseases.
